Job Description

Monitors departmental operations to promote safe, efficient, and quality performance standards for patients, visitors, and employees. Actively promotes a lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of lean principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a high complexity laboratory or radiology services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory – Experience in pediatric laboratory services
  • Radiology – Experience in pediatric radiology services, certification in Advanced Modality, advanced knowledge of radiation safety principles, equipment quality assurance process, and performance improvement initiatives, Bachelor's degree in related field

Education

  • Laboratory – Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution
  • Radiology – Associate's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Certification Summary

  • Laboratory – Certification as a Medical Technologist from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT) the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), or another agency approved by Georgia Department of Community Health.
  • Radiology – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent (Radiology)

  • Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Leadership abilities
  • Must possess computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office products and computer systems related to patient care
  • Builds and maintains adult relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors
  • Demonstrated ability to hold self and others accountable
  • Expert technical and clinical knowledge across multidisciplinary areas by recognizing patient care and employee performance quality issues and initiating performance improvement processes

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures continual readiness for system and departmental accreditation site visits by conducting regular tracer activities.
  • Interacts with other healthcare workers (e.g., department leadership team and educators) to provide information and identify, develop, implement, assess, and report strategies that result in improved departmental processes.
  • Assists with maintaining department regulatory accreditation and provides department leadership with compliance progress and effectiveness.
  • Gathers and analyzes quality and performance improvement data and submits reports to national data registries, system committees, and departmental leadership team.
  • Coordinates and organizes quality assurance activities.
  • Assists in overseeing Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment mandated proficiency testing program.
  • Coordinates with leadership in development of annual quality metrics and dashboards, reviews quality of data submitted, and monitors deadlines for timely and accurate submission of quality data for department leadership review.
  • Recognizes, monitors, and analyzes trends in operations for purposes of improving process flow and/or increasing patient and employee satisfaction.
