Summary of Job Duties:Diagnostic Radiology Technologist coordinates and performs bone densitometry scans, analyzes data, and produces data reports consistent with the high quality standards expected by the organization and interpreting physicians. Performs bone densitometry scans in accordance with established ARRT, professional and departmental standards and procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates - Graduate of an approved Radiology program
Registered or eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Licensed by the State of Arkansas in Radiology Technology
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Prior experience performing Bone Densitometry
Bone Densitometry Technologist Certification within one year of hire.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Responsible for quality control testing and correspondence related to laboratory functions.
Proficient at gathering all pertinent patient clinical history for the interpreting physician.
Accurately completes bone densitometry scans and analyzes each scan.
Recognizes and marks all artifacts, surgical implants, foreign bodies, aortic calcifications, etc.
Recognize the limits of densitometry on obesity and other medical conditions.
Understands why the physician may require reanalysis and can recognize and make the correct changes.
Archives bone densitometry scans to the optical and CD.
Recognize inaccurate exam data, software, and hardware failures.
Manage DEXA patient schedule and accommodate emergent exams and add-ons.
Ensure thoroughness and safety of study while setting the priority of clinical need.
Uses physicians and other resources to determine how to tailor bone densitometry scans to meet clinical needs.
Review images for technical quality.
Accurately prepares and types physician reports on the Bone Densitometry template in EPIC.
Complies with the written guidelines for completing Bone Densitometry reports.
Attends required training and/or in-services.
Attends staff meetings and participates in the orientation and/or training of new staff.
Maintains required job skill competencies and completes skills assessment annually.
Performs other duties as assigned.
