Leidos’ Defense Systems Land Division is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. You’ll work closely with agile software development, security, and systems administration teams to automate security measures, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to real-time security incidents.
You’ll also embed security into the DevOps pipeline—ensuring our software is both efficient and secure. The right candidate is a strong team player with great analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of collaborating with both technical staff and end users.

Primary Responsibilities
Develop, troubleshoot, and debug high-level software using C++, Java, or similar languages.
Collaborate with users and developers to improve and enhance system capabilities.
Use modern software engineering principles to write secure, reliable, reusable, and efficient code.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
Participate in Agile development processes: planning, demos, retrospectives, etc.
Work on automation and containerization efforts using Docker, IaC, and related technologies.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience (or Master’s and 2-6 years)
DevOps/automation-focused software development experience
Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows Server/Workstation
Proficiency with scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
Experience with DevSecOps tools: GitLab, Nexus, CI/CD pipelines
Familiar with Docker or other containerization platforms
Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and platform engineering
Strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills
Familiarity with Git and version control best practices
Active Secret Clearance
Full-time on-site support required
Must reside in the North Alabama area
Preferred Qualifications
IaC tools: Ansible, Terraform, Chef/Puppet
GitOps experience
Ability to manage multiple release schedules
Experience with test automation in CI/CD
Familiar with static analysis tools: Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity
Experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts
Understanding of VMware virtualization
Basic networking and diagnostics
Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
System Administration experience a strong plus
