Role Description:
We are seeking a talented DevSecOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of system architecture, exceptional problem-solving skills, and have the ability to shift between different tasks and projects effectively.
As a DevSecOps Engineer in our organization, you will be part of a dedicated team focused on promoting global freedom and independence through advanced technological solutions. You will be responsible for architecting, building, and deploying cloud-native solutions across both cloud and on-premises environments. Additionally, this role includes providing on-call support and facilitating onboarding training sessions to ensure our customers' mission success.
Responsibilities:
In this role, your focus revolves around ensuring customer success and satisfaction, all while fostering a culture of urgency and velocity. As an Operations Engineer, your responsibilities encompass not only contributing code and documentation but also collaborating closely with Product Owners to enhance Defense Unicorn’s products in ways that best support our customers. Furthermore, you'll play a crucial role in educating customers, assisting with or leading deployments, and maintaining deployments to ensure successful mission operations. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance and includes on-call responsibilities.
In this position you will be expected to:
- Deploy and/or assist third parties in deploying Defense Unicorns' capabilities for customers both remotely and on-site.
- Collaborate with Product and Delivery Departments to build new features and fix bugs in support of specific mission requirements.
- Create and update documentation based on interactions with customers and mission environments.
- Develop and maintain training programs for customers, focusing on Defense Unicorns' capabilities.
- Work with Product Owners, Project Managers, and Tech Leads to shape product goals, roadmap, priorities, and strategy.
- Suggest and implement improvements to various Mission Operations workflows.
- Stay up to date on Defense Unicorns Product offerings and conduct test deployments to verify product compatibility with customer requirements.
- Adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise, responding to the evolving needs of the organization.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues in written and verbal communications and represent Defense Unicorns and its values in all communications.
- Resolve customer issues via email, video conferencing, phone calls, and in-person.
- Participate in regular rotations for weekday and weekend on-call coverage and incident response.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role, with a focus on system architecture, development, deployments, and issue resolution
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go) and a basic understanding of shell scripting
- Experience with security automation and familiarity with API Security, Container Security, and Cloud Security
- A strong understanding of cloud infrastructure design aligning security, performance, and resilience
- Experience in architecture security design, monitoring, and performance in a complex enterprise environment
- Demonstrated familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Google Cloud, and Docker
- Familiarity with continuous delivery, distributed architectures, systems, everything-as-code, containerization, and cloud services
- Comfort with debugging systems, reading/writing code, and understanding Incident, Problem, Change, and Release management processes
- Hold a security clearance/Eligible to apply for a security clearance. United States citizenship is required
- Possess a DoD 8570 IAT II certification
