The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team engineers and supports all the foundational technology used across M&T Bank.  We support two Data Centers, 15,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions, a secure and reliable Network connecting all the technology across the bank footprint and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month.  In addition to that foundational technology level, we own the operational support processes, monitoring and command center that provide a unified, well-managed technology response when issues arise.    We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions, in partnership with our line of business CIOs, to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver.Overview:Position will lead the development and deployment of code propagation pipelines for all mainframe applications via the DevOps process. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams on a regular basis to implement and manage the design, development, and execution of technical solutions that meet or exceed current and future needs of the organization. 
  • Responsibilities may include infrastructure review, implementation, and design, creation of support and architectural documentation, standards, policies, analysis, and testing.
  • Regularly and independently interact with business partners of varying associate and management levels to ensure clarity of the problem/opportunity and elicit business requirements.
  • Coordinate vendor interactions and/or vendor resources as needed.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators.  Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff.
  • Seek to expand knowledge and understanding of Financial Services trends, practices, and technologies on a continuous basis.   
  • Follow and promote use of industry best practices, standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong aptitude and working knowledge of Bank applications, systems, development environments.  Maintain a detailed understanding of vendor technologies and services used by the Bank.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:Combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architectureRequired working experience with the following: DevOps: 
  • Maintenance of existing code migration pipelines 
  • Creation of new pipelines 
  • Training and support of the application teams’ pipeline usage 
Utilities and Coding Languages in some of the following: 
  • GitLab -  
  • Ansible – functions for software and application deployment   
  • ADDI -  
  • YAML – configuration files and data storage and transmission 
  • Scripting Languages:  
  • Groovy (Apache) – Java oriented programming  
  • Python – programming language 
Education and Experience Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer EngineeringMinimum 6 years’ professional experience in a technical engineering position involvingMainframe Architecture and Utilities

Application experience in the following technologies: 
  • Coordinating and maintaining several computing environments (Prod, DR, Cert, Dev)

  • Cloud technologies, such as Azure Cloud, Colo Data Center facilities support 
  • ServiceNow Application 
  • infrastructure design technologies, data management and interchange, system design and/or development for complex applications
  • Ability to translate complex business and functional requirements into structured high-quality implementations using any variety of industry standard approaches

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $93,581.10 - $155,968.51 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
