DEVOPS / PLATFORM ENGINEER

Location: India

Schedule: Full-Time

The DevOps / Platform Engineer is responsible for owning the cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational foundation supporting EVS Labs’ software products. This role will help maintain a reliable, secure, reproducible, and scalable AWS environment as the software portfolio continues to grow.

The DevOps / Platform Engineer will establish and maintain infrastructure, CI/CD, security, monitoring, and reliability standards while partnering closely with full-stack, data, GIS, AI, and automation developers. This role will provide a consistent platform that enables EVS Labs to build, deploy, and operate software efficiently as the team and product portfolio expands.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Own EVS Labs’ AWS environment, including provisioning, networking, and services supporting applications such as ECS Fargate, RDS/PostgreSQL, S3, SQS, and related AWS services.
• Define and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring new and existing systems are reproducible, maintainable, and version controlled.
• Manage secrets, configuration, and environment consistency across development, staging, and production.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable safe, reliable, and frequent software deployments.
• Implement automated testing, deployment processes, and clean rollback capabilities.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability using CloudWatch and related tools to detect, diagnose, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Engineer uptime, resilience, and scalability into the platform as EVS Labs’ software products become increasingly important to the organization.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis and identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Own the security posture of the platform, including IAM, network security, secrets management, and access controls.
• Help protect sensitive financial, client, and business data through appropriate security and data-isolation practices.
• Partner with the Senior Full Stack Developer to establish CI/CD, deployment, infrastructure, and cloud standards for the team.
• Serve as a cross-functional resource for full-stack, data, GIS, AI, and automation developers, helping them build, deploy, and operate their solutions effectively.
• Mentor and enable team members on infrastructure, deployment, security, and reliability practices.
• Establish technical conventions and platform standards that support consistent development across EVS Labs.
• Support identity and SSO integrations, including Azure Entra ID.
• Work with containerized services using Docker and AWS container technologies.
• Use Python and SQL for operational scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and working with PostgreSQL-backed systems.
• Identify and implement improvements to platform reliability, security, observability, performance, and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with development and engineering teams to understand infrastructure and deployment requirements and provide practical, maintainable solutions.

• Evaluate infrastructure and cloud architecture decisions with consideration for scalability, security, reliability, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, teamwork, and continuous improvement within EVS Labs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Four to seven years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS as a primary cloud platform, including services such as ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC/networking, SQS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager or comparable services.
• Strong proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or comparable tools.
• Experience working with containerized services and Docker.
• Experience supporting production environments with monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and reliability practices.
• Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, secrets management, network security, access controls, and data isolation.
• Experience with Python and SQL for operational scripting and automation.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL-backed systems.
• Experience integrating identity and SSO solutions; Azure Entra ID experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term maintainability.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of infrastructure and operational responsibilities, and establish effective technical standards.
