The Team: Morningstar's structured credit research and ratings subsidiary (MCR) is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) that has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the structured finance market. This group aims to increase market transparency and provides the highest quality ratings through securities research, monitoring services, data, and technology solutions.
The Role: The Senior DevOps Engineer's primary role to assist with the management and support of Unix/Linux and Windows servers that run MCR services. The DevOps Engineers will be expected to be 'hands on' with the system and individual tasks such as deploying software releases and will work closely with the development and product/project teams. The full-time position is a day shift, with being on-call as an escalation contact.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with the management and support of Unix/Linux/Windows servers that run MCR product and services.
+ Proficient technical skills around the Linux/UNIX operating system.
+ Follow guides to implement best practices, develop efficiencies, and improve department's scalability.
+ The ability to work in a client facing, fast paced environment with minimal supervision and major responsibility.
+ Knowledge of IT environments, technologies, system hosting infrastructure, including Cloud providers and their platforms is required.
+ You will work very closely with other groups to resolve problems, deploy and release new products and create solutions to provide world class service, solutions and support.
Requirements
+ Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
+ Experience with Amazon EC2 instances is required.
+ 6-10 years or more of Linux/Unix experience.
+ 2-5 years of Window Server experience
+ The ability to adapt quickly to new tasks.
+ Exceptional customer service, organization, interpersonal, time-management and written and verbal communication skills.
+ High degree of self-motivation.
+ The ability to learn custom applications, support, and troubleshoot.
+ Experience with virtual machines (OS -Linux, Redhat, Centos, and Ubuntu).
+ Knowledge of networking, DNS, Sendmail, VMWare, FTP, HTTP, SSH plus basic scripting language experience (execute and modify, Perl, Python and shell).
+ Knowledge of Hardware, including installation and troubleshooting is a plus
+ Knowledge and experience of working with Monitoring agents and systems.
+ Basic knowledge of MySQL preferred.
