Job Summary:
The Entry Software Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design and development of processes for manufacturing chemicals and related products. This role involves working under the guidance of experienced engineers, conducting research, analyzing data, and contributing to the optimization of production processes.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Using approved tools and processes, create Infrastructure as Code scripts to deploy environments in AWS that can be reused by peer team members and teams.
- Using standard tools and processes, create and utilize pipelines to deploy software applications across multiple environments including lower level, QA, staging and production environments.
- Following team standards, provide guidance to peer teams on best practices to deploy infrastructure and applications using IaC and pipelines.
- Work closely with security operations to maintain proper security posture for supported environments and applications including the implementation of automated security testing.
- Setup, configure and maintain high availability (HA) and elasticity requirements in the public cloud when required by applications.
- Implement monitoring and logging standards for infrastructure and applications.
- Maintain high availability and elasticity requirements in public cloud environments when required by applications.
- Setup, configure and maintain disaster recovery requirements including scheduled DR drills.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for the Global DevOps team.
- Develop and maintain robust logging systems.
- Support and work with software engineers
- Documenting processes and workflows.
- Participating in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.
- Using approved tools and processes, create Infrastructure as Code scripts in AWS and/or Azure that can be reused by peer team members and teams.

Skills Required
- Experience creating Infrastructure as Code scripts (AWS and/or Azure)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across environments (dev, QA, staging, production)
- Familiarity with automated security testing and working with security operations
- Ability to design and maintain high availability and elasticity in public cloud environments
- Implement monitoring and logging standards and develop robust logging systems
- Design and maintain disaster recovery plans and participate in scheduled DR drills
- Willingness to participate in a global on-call rotation
- Ability to document processes and workflows clearly
- Ability to guide peer teams on best practices for IaC and pipelines
- Experience supporting software engineering teams in deployment and operations
