OverviewThe Software area is responsible for the development of computer programming systems and applications including the design, coding, testing and deployment of products and solutions to meet firm obligations.ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
The Senior AWS DevOps Engineer provides technical leadership in architecting and scaling cloud‑native automation, observability, and performance engineering frameworks across mission‑critical payment platforms. The role emphasizes deep AWS expertise spanning compute, networking, security, IaC, and CI/CD, to ensure highly available, secure, compliant, and high‑throughput web applications. This position drives cloud modernization initiatives, builds enterprise‑grade automation ecosystems, and mentors engineering teams in advanced DevOps and AWS best practices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop AWS‑based deployment and test automation frameworks, leveraging services such as AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, Lambda, CloudFormation, and ECS/EKS.
- Lead the creation and optimization of load, regression, and performance test suites, integrating them into cloud‑native CI/CD systems.
- Guide and mentor teams in performance testing, automation, and best practices using modern AWS and DevOps tooling.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, including Level‑3 customer escalations in cloud environments.
- Review and enhance test plans, automation scripts, and infrastructure definitions, ensuring quality, reliability, and security alignment.
- Design and manage containerized workloads leveraging Amazon ECS, EKS, Fargate, and ECR; implement blue/green and canary deployment strategies.
- Implement enterprise‑grade observability using CloudWatch, AWS X‑Ray, CloudTrail, OpenTelemetry, AWS Health Dashboard, and centralized logging architectures with Amazon OpenSearch and Kinesis Data Firehose.
- Manage secure, compliant environments leveraging AWS IAM, IAM Identity Center, KMS, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, Shield, and VPC security controls.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of complex distributed applications, analyzing logs, traces, and metrics across VPCs, ALB/NLB, Route 53, and multi‑account AWS organizations.
- Optimize cloud costs and performance using AWS Compute Optimizer, Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, Auto Scaling groups, and serverless optimization patterns.
- Work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams, driving continuous improvement, reliability engineering, and DevOps culture adoption across Systems Test and SRE teams.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of DevOps and Test Engineering experience, including 4+ years in technical leadership roles.
- Strong expertise with AWS services, cloud automation, and IaC (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
- Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, and MS SQL.
- Hands on experience with Gitlab, CI/CD implementation, AWS/other cloud services.
- Scrum, Agile, Kanban development models
Optional Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience validating high‑throughput, resilient, cloud‑native web applications and APIs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for cross‑functional technical leadership.
- Ability to rapidly learn new AWS services, DevOps tools, and best practices—and effectively coach others to adopt them.
Education and Certifications:
- Computer science degree or equivalent work experience within a professional software environment.
- Payment industry experience highly desired
