We are currently looking for a DevOps Engineer for a 100% remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated, scalable, and secure cloud-based infrastructure solutions. This role spans the entire software development lifecycle with a focus on automation, continuous integration, and system reliability. 

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Architect, build, and maintain cloud environments in AWS to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK.
  • Manage containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, and Helm.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and IT teams to streamline workflows and improve deployment efficiency.
  • Integrate security controls and compliance checks into DevOps pipelines (DevSecOps).
  • Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
  • Establish and maintain centralized logging, incident response, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to cloud security best practices and organizational standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and automation strategies to improve performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or automation engineering.
  • Strong experience with AWS cloud services and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, or AppDynamics.
  • Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required, with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud networking, security, and identity management.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure Observability tools (ELK, Jaeger, Kiali).
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with high-availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
