What you'll do

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing solutions, driving automation, and optimising performance across the software development lifecycle. You’ll be securing buy-in to DevOps methodologies from the Product Owner, Platform Lead, and other key business stakeholders, driving commitment to an alternative way of working.

We’ll look to you to build and leverage internal and external relationships to make sure that decisions made are commercially focused and create long-term value for the bank. You’ll also be collaborating in the development of the DevOps strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals.

In addition, you’ll be:

  • Designing and overseeing the architecture of systems and applications with a focus on scalability and reliability
  • Analysing system performance and optimising infrastructure to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Driving innovation by evaluating and integrating new technologies that enhance the DevOps ecosystem
  • Leading the automation of advanced workflows, creating reusable modules and templates
  • Making sure that practices align with compliance requirements and industry standards
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical guidance
The skills you'll need

To take on this role, you’ll need knowledge of the core principles and benefits of DevOps, paired with experience with common DevOps tools, source code management, deployment, and configuration tooling.

You’ll also need:

  • Strong experience in DevOps practices, including GITLAB CI/CD pipeline design and implementation, Gitflow (braching strategy such as trunk based deployment)
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies - with PCF and AWS cloud platform skills
  • Hands-on expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with focus on Developer Experience (DX) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
  • Skilled in observability and monitoring tools, especially Splunk
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Environment as a code and implementation using Yaml scripts
  • Preferred Knowledge of Mainframes technologies at least DB2
