AVEVA is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our service operation team to help us build a flexible hybrid infrastructure for the development of our on-premise and cloud-based products and AVEVA cloud services. The service operations team is a product-focused team, responsible for continued operations and uptime of the environment and substrate of AVEVA Data Hub. This aids the build, release, and operation of our applications and services using platforms such as Service Fabric, Docker, and Kubernetes (K8s).
As a DevOps Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
• Work cross-functionally with developer, program manager, and architecture teams to improve our developer platforms in support of AVEVA critical programs and projects.
• Build solutions to problems that interrupt availability, performance, and stability in our systems, services, and products.
• Perform a wide variety of technical and administrative duties in overall system design, development, and delivery.
• Develop, improve, and document operational practices and procedures to further champion a DevOps mindset.
• Support the automated lifecycle of Production, Staging/QA, and Development environments as needed in both on-premise and cloud environments.
• Provide the necessary infrastructure to maintain multiple dev/test environments, ensuring each environment is consistently set up, configured, and available for each release as scheduled.
• Maintain and support of build/release CI/CD.
• Trace build problems, release issues, and environmental issues.
• Help integrate new technology capabilities into existing solutions to drive improved productivity.
• Author and maintain scripting tools that reliably manage cloud applications & data pipelines.
• Write scripts, deployment frameworks, tracers, monitors, self-healing/auto remediation tools to mitigate downtime and manual support activities.
We're looking for:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree
• 2-5 years of experience in DevOps or equivalent in an Operations environment.
• Software development proficiency consistent with a Software Developer; Systems and Operation Support proficiency consistent with a Systems Engineer; or a combination of both
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Works efficiently and effectively with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Strong desire for driving automated solutions and writing tools and applications designed to streamline operational support. Experienced building solutions to improve Developer Productivity.
• Demonstrate solid judgment and know when to escalate.
• Capable problem solver who can effectively marshal support from 3rd party vendors when required.
Technical Skills:
• Experience with Microsoft technology platforms and/or .NET programming experience
• Scripting skill set, particularly with PowerShell. Capable of writing functional and controller scripts consumable both internally and externally to our team.
• Experience authoring, documenting, and troubleshooting declarative scripting, specifically PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) or similar technologies is a plus.
• Ability to write script testing and validation using test frameworks such as Pester is a plus.
• Azure DevOps administrative experience. Capacity to support and teach the platform’s capabilities to improve developer team’s effectiveness using the platforms latest improvements.
• Hands-on experience with software version control systems including GIT and VSTC.
• Experience in some of the following areas expected:
• Azure/AWS and authoring automated environment deployment and management using Azure Resource Manager/Cloud Formation templates.
• Automated deployment and configuration of Service Fabric, SQL Server, Azure Log Analytics, Application Insights, Azure Automation accounts, and a broader array of Microsoft based technologies.
• Experience with data center virtualization desired, specifically Hyper-V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).
• Hands-on experience building Containers. Working with Orchestration technologies, specially Docker Swarm and Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with Security Compliance and managing security and access control in (Amazon Web Services) AWS (Identity Access Management) IAM, Azure AD, Windows Active Directory, and other identity infrastructure.
