About the Role

  • This role will be part of a team that develops software interfaces with all the major TV streaming providers, and downloads tens of thousands of movies and TV shows from US and international platforms. This team is at the heart of Nielsen’s streaming measurement strategy, and is continually updating their software to adjust to the quickly evolving streaming environment. As a Devops Engineer you will help to increase speed of delivery, improve quality/security of code, and optimize processes for the development team. With a heavy focus on cost avoidance and securityYou will be responsible for making performance improvements with the development team to improve a system that processes massive amounts of data every hour 24x7. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability of our production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with developers to assess existing problems and to come up with solutions Work to resolve bottlenecks and production issues proactivelyParticipate in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvement projects Perform daily tasks such as environmental health checks, data storage monitoring, and environmental costsDeploying application release into no-prod and production environments using automated CI/CD pipelines that include security vulnerability assessmentsAutomated repetitive manual DevOps task using tools such as TerraformCollaborate with other DevOps teams to build a community of practiceCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to software development.Support the implementation of security best practices for on-prem and AWS (cloud)

Key skills

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience, minimum 2 years, in UNIX based environments systems that span traditional on-prem/server and AWS serverless environments, utilizing tools such as: Python, Shell Scripting, RDS/SQL, S3 Life cycle, Docker, EKS, EMR, EC2, Airflow, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, & OpsGeniGood understanding of CI/CD principles and tools. GitLab a plusGood problem-solving and debugging skills.Good communication and collaboration skills with ability to communicate technical conceptsAble to innovative solutions within a group
