We have an exciting opportunity in our Corporate Information Technology department for a Development Lead, Full Stack.
This role seeks an Expert Full Stack Development Lead with a strong background in full-stack development, particularly in TypeScript (React.ts) and .NET (C#). The role will lead a team in building and enhancing applications within the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading development teams, solving complex technical problems, and delivering enterprise-level solutions in a cloud-first, agile environment.
The candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and DevOps, to ensure seamless integration and high-quality deliverables. In addition to technical expertise, this role requires strong leadership, mentorship, and project management skills, with a focus on driving innovation, maintaining high coding standards, and ensuring security and compliance across all development efforts.
This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto Corporate Office, reporting to the Director of Engineering. This role involves interactions with primarily internal stakeholders at various levels.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and mentor a diverse team of developers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring that all team members have the support they need to succeed.

Provide guidance and direction on complex technical problems, helping the team to navigate challenges and make informed decisions.

Conduct regular code reviews, offering constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
-
Work closely with multiple development teams, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.

Facilitate collaboration between front-end and back-end developers, Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to manage CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and cloud infrastructure (Azure), ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Engage with other functional teams (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle, SAP integration) to ensure successful integration between enterprise systems.
Agile Methodology and Project Management:

Operate within an Agile Framework, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Manage project timelines, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
Full Stack Development:
-
Actively participate in the development of both front-end (TypeScript, React.ts) and back-end(.NET, C#) components, setting a high standard for code quality and maintainability.

Implement and oversee the development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and other web services, ensuring they meet performance and security standards.
Quality Assurance and Testing:

Implement unit and integration tests to ensure high test coverage and application reliability.

Optimize application performance, conducting thorough testing for speed, scalability, and resource utilization.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

Continuously improve development processes and tools, driving innovation within the team.

Promote continuous learning, refactor legacy code, and reduce technical debt.
Security and Compliance:

Ensure that all applications adhere to security best practices, including secure coding practices, authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT), and data protection measures.

Oversee compliance with industry standards and regulations, ensuring that all solutions are secure, compliant, and ready for production use.
Infrastructure and DevOps Collaboration:

Work closely with DevOps to manage cloud infrastructure (Azure), including monitoring, scaling, and optimizing resources for performance and cost-efficiency.

Oversee the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment processes with minimal downtime.
Technical Oversight and Problem Solving:

Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing scalable full-stack solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, and application bugs.
Who You Are

Expert Skills in full stack development. Able to operate in Presentation Layer, Service / Integration Layer, and Data Layer.

Presentation Layer:

Expert skills developing in Typescript or Javascript (ES6+)

Expert skills in React.ts or similar (Angular11+, React.js, Next.js)

Expert skills in modern in Runtime Javascript Services like node.js, deno, bun, workers or similar.

Expert Skills in React or similar front end framework

Expert skills in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.

Strong experience with hooks, state management and component lifecycles

Experience building micro-apps and Micro-front ends with a DB layer using .NET

Service Layer:

Expert skills in.NET development (C#, ASP.NET Core)

Experience building microservices with a DB layer using .NET,

Experience integrating web service calls and/or RESTful APIs, GRPC, GraphQL

Experience with Websockets, Authentication, Token security and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, JWT).

Experience with Frameworks: Firebase, Spring, SpringBoot, MVC, JBOOT or similar frameworks and libraries

Experience integrating between enterprise systems like Salesforce, Oracle, SAP.

Data Layer:

Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Entity Framework).

Strong experience with noSQL databases like Redis, Cosmos etc.

Experience with Azure Database systems, Data lake, swamps etc

Infrastructure / Devops:

Experience with Build Tools / Pipelines / Package Managers: Webpack, Parcel, Vite, npm, Yarn, Babel.

Experience working in cloud technologies (Azure preferred), Docker, Devops, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, Github Actions, Gitlab CI or similar ), Git or equivalent repositories.

Experience writing Unit Test Cases for Code, and using frameworks like Jest, Moch/Chai

Experience in performance tuning applications

Experience troubleshooting applications for bugs, issues, performance and/or load challenges

Knowledge of Agile Tools and methodology (Confluence, Monday.com, Jirweba)
What You Bring

7+ Years - Expert skills developing solutions for enterprise applications running in a cloud-first environment. Experience required in throughput management, troubleshooting, monitoring, building alerting systems, performance, and load management.

7+ years Development experience building software applications for large organizations. Must be able to build solutions for Enterprise systems using modern methods.

Operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrating critical thinking, and thought leadership. Experience required working across functional teams with a diverse profile of people, processes, and priorities, across multiple time-zones

Leadership Experience:

3+ Years leading other developers, reviewing code, managing development deliverables.

Experience managing an application development / software team. Motivating the team for results, teaching junior members on coding practices.

Skilled at mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, explaining Design work.

Providing all support to the development team, leading by example.

Bachelor’s degree preferred in a Business or IT discipline (Computer Science).
