DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Director of Development, the Coordinator – Peoria Zoo Membership is responsible for the
following:
• Assist in identifying members who are candidates for higher levels of membership and/or giving and for reducing the number of lapsed
members.
• Work with supervisor to set measurable goals for membership attraction and retention and be accountable for the same.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of member events.
• Support the issuance of timely membership renewal materials, and maintenance of accurate membership records as needed.
• Collaborate with other Peoria Park District facilities to implement plans and programs to focused on maintaining and growing Zoo
memberships and benefits of the same, including those offered at other facilities.
• Assist the membership program by processing and maintaining membership records and printing and generating mailing materials.
• Assist at all member, donor, and special events as required.
• Participate in marketing efforts to increase capital and major gifts (individuals, corporations, foundations, newsletters).
• Assist in the preparation of annual sponsorship packets in coordination with other departments.
• Perform clerical duties such as data entry, ordering supplies, meeting preparation, and preparing reports.
• Assist in the solicitation of sponsors.
• Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed.
• Support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to achieve the goals and mission of PZS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ability to manipulate keyboard and phone.
• Ability to bend at waist and knees to file.
• Ability to understand and complete record keeping and paperwork relative to job duties.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to solve problems, instruct, coordinate, evaluate, organize, plan, observe, interpret, and advise.
• Ability to address customer service issues with minimal supervision.
• Ability to treat all members and donors professionally and confidentially.
QualificationsEducation: Associate’s Degree and/or professional certification(s) in a relevant discipline preferred. Relevant experience strongly
considered.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in fundraising, sales, membership, and/or data entry is preferred.
Knowledge and Ability:
• Knowledge of operations in not-for-profit or government settings is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of office procedures, ability to operate general office equipment, knowledge and correct use of English grammar and
spelling.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Typing skills, general bookkeeping, and ability to create and maintain efficient filing systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft computer software.
• Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or Blackbaud programs and Point of Sales systems.
• Requires a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
• Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work harmoniously with the public and fellow employees enthusiastically and cooperatively.
• Communicate with the public and staff to convey membership policies and procedures.
• Ability to develop a broad-based knowledge of the community to further Park District and PZS objectives.
• Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, follow safety procedures, and be equitable to internal and external
customers.
