Job Description
The Development Associate serves as an essential member of EBCAP's Communications & Development team, supporting fundraising efforts that strengthen and expand services across more than 20 program areas. This role works closely with leadership to cultivate donor relationships, grow community partnerships, coordinate fundraising initiatives, and support strategic development activities that advance EBCAP's mission throughout the East Bay region.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Identify, research, and cultivate prospective donors and corporate partners.
- Support annual fundraising campaigns and development initiatives.
- Prepare donor communications, including appeals, acknowledgments, stewardship materials, and impact reports.
- Assist with major donor cultivation and relationship-building efforts.
- Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation activities.
Events & Community Outreach
- Help plan and execute fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and community engagement activities.
- Coordinate event logistics, vendors, volunteers, and on-site support.
- Represent EBCAP at community meetings, networking events, and public engagements.
- Build awareness of EBCAP's mission and impact throughout the East Bay region.
Marketing & Storytelling
- Develop compelling fundraising materials, including brochures, donor communications, and impact stories.
- Collaborate on newsletters, social media content, and donor engagement campaigns.
- Conduct interviews and gather stories that demonstrate the impact of EBCAP's programs.
- Support online fundraising platforms, digital giving tools, Giving Tuesday initiatives, and 401 Gives campaigns.
Data Management & Administration
- Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data within the organization's CRM system.
- Generate reports and fundraising analytics for leadership and board reporting.
- Process donations and ensure timely gift acknowledgments.
- Assist with budget tracking and monitoring fundraising performance metrics.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, marketing, development, or a related field.
- Comparable internship experience may be considered toward experience requirements.
- Professional development, certifications, or training related to nonprofit fundraising are highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience planning and coordinating special events.
- Grant writing experience, particularly within human service organizations.
- Familiarity with Rhode Island's nonprofit and philanthropic landscape.
- Experience using Canva or similar design platforms.
- Experience working with donor databases or CRM systems such as eTapestry
