ResponsibilitiesWhat to expect:
  • Conduct requirements analysis for new features, enhancements, and supportability improvements.
  • Produce and maintain solution papers, design documents, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in design discussions and conduct design/code walkthrough meetings.
  • Develop, maintain, and support Java-based backend services and application components.
  • Implement and maintain integrations with Oracle database systems, including SQL and PL/SQL components.
  • Contribute to cryptographic and security-related functionality and enhancements.
  • Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to new feature development as well as maintenance and enhancement of existing software systems.
  • Maintain adherence to Swift's security guidelines and coding standards.
  • Adhere to Swift's reference architecture and design principles.
  • Follow Swift's development and release methodologies (CM/CI/CD).
  • Perform performance analysis, identify reliability and performance issues, and implement improvements.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development and maintenance of enterprise applications.
Required Technical Skills
  • Proven hands-on development experience with Java and object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience developing and maintaining backend services and enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle databases, including SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Experience with application integration patterns, REST APIs, and web services.
  • Familiarity with cryptographic and security-related technologies and concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Experience developing and supporting applications on Linux platforms.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket/GIT.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle, testing practices, and release processes.
Preferred Technical Skills
  • Experience working on business-critical, highly available software systems.
  • Knowledge of security technologies such as PKI, TLS, encryption, digital signatures, and related cryptographic concepts.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Java applications.
  • Understanding of XML technologies, schemas, and message processing.
  • Familiarity with Oracle performance tuning and database optimization.
  • Exposure to financial services, secure messaging systems, or Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) initiatives.

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $82,000USD Annual MINIMUM to $115,000 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee’s contingent on personal and company performance. Our generous benefits program includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance with no premium costs for our employees and their families, and retirement plan plus matching 401k.
