About the team:

The Smart Grid Technology Lab focuses on research in real-time simulation technologies, microgrid energy management, control systems, and other smart grid technologies. We apply cutting-edge technologies to the digital power industry. The lab has developed into a research organization with significant achievements and a strong impact in the industry.

About the job:

  • Work under a supervisor with a team of experts to develop a set of power system and control component models for power system EMT simulation.

  • Implement the models in C++ as objects.

  • Ensure the long-term numerical stability of the models.

  • Optimize the models for execution speed.

  • Benchmark the models with widely used simulation tools.

  • Develop documents for the algorithms of the models.

  • Develop user manuals for component models.

  • Build and document demo cases for the models.

About the ideal candidate:

  • A PhD or a Master’s degree in the field of electrical engineering or a similar background.

  • Proven experience with EMT simulation model development.

  • Through understanding of numerical methods.

  • Familiarity with sparse matrix decomposition algorithms and parallel processing algorithms.

  • Broad knowledge and experience with the latest technologies, especially in the areas of power systems, power electronics, microgrid, distributed renewable resources, etc.

  • Advanced relationship management skills and highly effective communication skills.

  • Familiarity with graph theory is an asset.
