Job Description
Our Operational Experience Team is looking for an experienced COBOL developer to join a Legacy Systems Team. This team is bringing the existing infrastructure and deployment processes into a modern platform.
This work is a critical part of ensuring Expeditors as a technology leader. If you are self-motivated and passionate about technology, customer service, and teamwork, this could be the right position for you!
We need a well-organized go-getter to work on tools and processes for automating the implementation and configuration of products for servers. You will work with team members across multiple functional areas to ensure the development environment and release process continue to meet the needs of the department
As a member of the Legacy Systems Team, you will iterate through continuous improvements as the environment evolves. You will be on the forefront of giving Expeditors' customers and employees the new features they need.
This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATINS
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to provide support, troubleshooting and installation/deployment of legacy COBOL systems in a UNIX/Linux-based systems software adapted from HP e3000 systems.
- Ability to adapt or replace COBOL code to compilers, databases and intrinsics that are MPE-specific.
- Utilize available resources (IS colleagues, 3rd party support centers) to correct or create a suitable workarounds.
- Provide helpdesk ticketing and support.
- Provide documentation and training for all testing and troubleshooting procedures that are repeatable.
- Research and review industry's latest solutions in various technology spaces and provide recommendations to continuously improve performance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient with build and deployment tools such as Gitlab/Github, Jenkins, or Ansible.
- Experienced with DevOps / Infrastructure as Code / Continuous Improvement.
- Familiarity with release process solutions and challenges.
- Experienced at supporting systems roll-outs and deployments.
- Proficient working with Virtual Machines.

Additional Information
Expected base salary: $110,000 to $175,000
