Dev Ops Engineer (f/m/d)

In this role you will be working in an agile environment as part of a team that will is responsible for the design,implementation and maintenance of our DevOps toolchain and our cloud based infrastructure which includes provisioning, orchestration, configuration, deployment and monitoring solutions.

The DevOps team in Dublin consists of highly skilled engineers who have vast experience of running software at scale for production. We are delivering the Micro Service Architecture (MSA) Infrastructure solution for our public (SaaS) and private clouds. This new infrastructure enables and supports software engineers in developing new generation software optimized for the Cloud.

Day-To-Day:

  • Carry out your assigned development work as part of an agile team
  • Interface with multiple development teams to provide services and support in their use of our DevOps toolchain
  • Work with exciting and advanced new technologies
  • Learn from some of best experts in the industry by participating in design and implantation discussions
  • Gain insight to and help resolving production operations issues
  • Create and maintain documentation for the developer community and operations teams
  • Take part in 24/7 on-call rotations

Must have Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in practicing/adopting DevOps culture – a must
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies and practices – a must
  • Experience with CI and CD practices and the SDLC (Software Delivery Lifecycle) stages
  • Experience with at least one of the major Cloud vendors: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud – a must
  • Tool development in an interpreted/dynamic (e.g. Python, Ruby, etc.) or compiled (e.g. Java, Go) programming languages and ability to rapidly learn new development languages– a must
     

Nice to have Skills and Knowledge (at least one of the following):

  • Good understanding of software security and cloud security practices
  • Automated configuration management (e.g. Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
  • Linux based containers and container orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher)
  • Experience designing/implementing or working with new generation distributed monitoring (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Prometheus) and log management (e.g. ELK, Splunk, SumoLogic) solutions
  • Experience in a support role, preferably servicing an internal developer community and the internal SDLC process

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years Linux experience with in depth knowledge of system internals and bash scripting
  • Experience provisioning, operating, and managing highly available, secure and scalable cloud and on-premise environments
  • Experience gained by tackling day-to-day operational issues in highly available production systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
