What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is in the process of modernizing our core networks to enable new, ground-breaking products and technologies. We are looking for a Detail Engineer, Voice & Video, to help us lead the charge. In this position, you will be responsible for Detail Equipment Engineering for various build initiatives across multiple networks.

You will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects. The position requires involvement throughout the life cycle of a build, in particular - resolution of technical issues as they present themselves whilst creating detailed, often complex, technical installation instructions (I-SPECs) for new and existing technologies as per Standards.

Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Ensuring all work meets applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation across systems like ICON/CND, CCP, Canvas, and VENUe.

  • Interfacing and maintaining excellent communication with Centre Engineering, Field Engineering, Operations, Project Sponsors, and Direct Management to obtain critical pre-engineering info and report project status.

  • Providing technical guidance on First Office Application (FOA) projects using knowledge of existing configurations and extrapolating feasible solutions.

  • Identifying, monitoring, resolving, and driving a wide array of small and complex engineering issues to resolution in coordination with internal and external organizations.

  •  Managing multiple simultaneous projects and providing timely updates to upgrade, reconfigure, or decommission the network to support customer growth and generate cost savings.

  • Identifying, monitoring, reporting, escalating, coordinating, and driving engineering issues (both small and complex) to resolution.

  • Maintaining excellent communication with the Project Sponsor/Originator, Functional Team Members, and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues and timely reporting of status.

What we’re looking for...
You are self-driven with experience in the design and implementation of complex and distributed systems. You have a passion for seeking engineering excellence and adopting new technologies. You are not afraid to drive for success by working with multi-functional teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technical domains: SONET, DWDM and Long Haul Transport Systems, Backbone Routing and Switching systems, Physical Server Deployments, or Voice Switching platforms.

  • Telecoms Installation Experience - hands-on or remotely directed.

  • To be considered for this role, applicants must already hold a valid right to work in Ireland. We are currently unable to support employment permit sponsorship.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • The ability to work well with others (as a team) and individually (on your own projects) with a positive attitude.

  • Demonstrable excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Good verbal/written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in utilizing AI tools to streamline technical research, documentation, and problem-solving.
