Job Overview:
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting desktop computer systems and peripheral equipment used within the organization. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of desktop environments, providing end-user support, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The Desktop Engineer works closely with the IT team to enhance the user experience and support a secure, efficient IT infrastructure.
Roles and responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop and laptop computers, including hardware, software, network, and peripheral devices.
- Respond to and resolve incidents related to operating systems, applications, and hardware within SLAs.
- Assist in configuring and deploying new desktops, laptops, and mobile devices for employees.
- Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and other user management systems.
- Support users with password resets, account setups, and profile configurations.
- Good knowledge of Outlook/Exchange, Office 365 applications.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues for desktop users, including wired and wireless connections.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, and user account management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).
- 2+ years of experience in desktop support or a similar role.
