The Role
Blue Bottle Coffee is a passionate and fast-growing team that strives to be the undisputed leader in specialty coffee - leading from seed to cup to culture. As Designer, you will thoughtfully create elegant, cohesive experiences that delight our guests, embody simplicity and restraint, and responsibly align with Blue Bottle's brand standards.
This position is based in Seoul, Korea and reports to the Korea Brand Director.
You will:
- Create visual assets for a wide range of design projects, using creativity, ingenuity, passion, and restraint to bring the beautiful and impactful design to life across various mediums (print, packaging, digital)
- Deliver creative artworks related to annual marketing campaigns to promote events and seasonal merchandise by supporting photoshoots and designing key visuals
- Create various in-store communication materials and design a VM display guideline aligning with marketing plans to elevate brand experience and deliver effective point of purchase
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver assets on time and of impressive quality, while leading photo shooting, editing and cropping in collaboration with external partners
- Develop new merchandise with package design exclusive in Korea, targeting new cafe openings in alignment with a regional strategy
- Meet regularly with various teams (and as needed) to drive progress for current projects, discuss feedback, present revisions, and ideate together on how to further elevate the team’s work
You are:
- Execute sustainable, on-budget design by responsibly sourcing materials, comparing quotes and negotiating competitive rates
- Apply Blue Bottle style guidelines consistently across all of your projects to maintain a beautiful cohesiveness
- Excited to work with typography
- Deeply empathetic, always taking the viewpoint of our guests and how to delight them while honoring brand standards
- A passionate advocate for simplicity, restraint, and elegance as a design aesthetic
- Delightful to work with, always bringing a sense of humor and infectious ‘can-do’ attitude
- Comfortable with ambiguity and comfortable pivoting on direction and priorities for projects
You have:
- 1+ years of professional experience in a design agency, in-house firm, or similar
- Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in a design discipline (i.e., graphic, UI/UX) or related field
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and other design software
- An expert eye for color and typography
- Proficiency in Korean and English
