Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Designer to join the French Connection Off Price division. This role partners closely with the VP of Design to create a competitive and brand-right dress assortment that blends commercial appeal with emotional fashion. The Designer will contribute to the full design process—from initial concept through final sample—helping to ensure the line reflects the French Connection aesthetic, meets market deadlines, and supports business growth in alignment with strategic and financial goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Partner with the Head Designer to build the collection from initial research and sketching through final approved prototypes.
  • Trend & Inspiration: Conduct seasonal trend, fabric, and trim research; pull swipes and identify key inspiration styles to guide line development.
  • Technical Design: Create sketches and technical packages with a strong understanding of garment construction to effectively communicate with sample rooms and production partners.
  • Product Execution: Support the development of brand-appropriate first samples and ensure timely delivery to meet all market deadlines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, production, and sales teams to ensure design integrity and commercial viability.
  • Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Assist in sourcing seasonal fabrics and trims, maintaining communication with overseas offices regarding product development status and approvals.
  • Fittings & Adjustments: Attend fittings to review style lines, fit, and function; make appropriate revisions to achieve showroom-ready samples.
  • Process & Organization: Maintain strong organizational and communication skills while effectively managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or technical degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • 5-7 years of professional apparel design experience, with a focus on contemporary sportswear
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong hand sketching and computer design skills.
  • Deep understanding of garment construction and the product development process.
  • Experience working with overseas factories and vendors.
  • Strong trend awareness and ability to interpret commercially viable ideas.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational ability, and follow-through.

Pay Range: $85,000 – $100,000/year
