Job Description We are a growing team of passionate user experience designers and researchers at J.P. Morgan, the world's biggest payments processing company that serves some of the best-known, name brand international merchants. We focus on customer-facing as well as internal applications that support our Merchant Services & Commercial Card Technology payment processing line of business. These are big-data enterprise applications with complex, interesting workflows and data visualization needs.
We're looking for experienced User Experience designers who can lead projects and apply their skills across all facets of the UX design process. The UX designer will conduct all aspects of the design process, leading discovery, creating sketches, mockups and interactive prototypes to solve and communicate innovative design solutions. The designer will collaborate with Agile business and development teams to envision solutions and bring them to life. The person will primarily focus on UX design, but may also participate in user-centered research to enhance the designs.
Responsibilities:

  • Participates in discovery sessions with users, product owners, architects and other stakeholders to achieve a shared understanding of the requirements and solutions.
  • Participates in user research to help inform design.
  • Creates service blueprints, journey maps and other artifacts to clarify understanding of complex multi-user workflows.
  • Develops information architecture from the user needs, content and business requirements.
  • Composes wireframes, mockups and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and detailed designs to users, business and technology teams.
  • Collects feedback and iterates on designs.
  • Defines UX strategies to improve customer experiences, increase productivity, reduce task completion time and lessen user confusion.
  • Drives continuous improvement in the UI toolkit.
  • Works in partnership with marketing and communications teams and upholds relationships between product and development teams.
  • Participates in setting and driving the business' strategic direction in changing the way we deliver technology to better meet business needs.
  • Ensures that applications adhere to UX and architecture standards, risk management and security guidelines and data management policies.
  • Ensures risk controls and compliance with departmental and firm-wide standards.
  • Maintains a client-centric environment for team and contributors.


Qualifications:

  • MA/MS degree in UX, HCI, Information Design, Human Factors, Psychology or related field; professional certification or equivalent practical experience
  • Five-plus years of user experience design, with experience designing enterprise-level applications
  • Strong design skills with representative portfolio of work
  • Experience in responsive web design
  • Experience in common design and prototyping tools with ability to learn new tools as needed
  • Experience in planning, conducting and communicating user research to inform product strategy and design
  • Disciplined self-starter with strong attention to detail and advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Critical and creative thinker
  • Ability to lead UX activities on projects without direct oversight
  • Ability to work independently, or with other UX team members, as projects require
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
