Sr. Technical Design

Responsibilities:
- Have full understanding of managing category/department(s). Development/create full production tech packs for softlines global styles to send to factory for costing and sample submission.
- Sketch flat sketches and correct sketches using Adobe Illustrator (CAD).
- Experience with garment assembly/construction and pattern drafting/draping of managing dept/s
- Experience with garment making from 1st sample to pre-production to final production step-by-step
- Have fundamental understand of grade rules and grade application of managing dept/s
- Have fundamental understand of fabrication usage and trim treatment of managing dept/s
- Mindful of company calendar and overlapping timeline/delivery
- *Effectiveness of conducting fit session with live model, mannequins, and VTC-virtual teleconference (see Tech dept process for details)
- Partner and guide overseas agents and factories to provide quality products of managing dept/s
- Partner with our teams to maintain Brand consistency of managing dept/s
- Monitor guests feedback and callouts online of managing dept/s
- Manage email communication daily
- Manage and meet deadlines…daily, weekly, seasonally, quarterly, and annually
- Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
- Manage the daily responsibilities of the Technical Designer role.
- Support overall Tech Dept processes and procedures.
- Oversee the development and status of departmental style (pattern/block/sloper) library and monitor its' use and implementation with vendors.
- Oversee the departmental product development process, ensuring that deadlines and goals are met.
- Analyze garment construction and adjust based on factory, fabric, and cost factors. Ensure consistency of construction details within the department.
- Abilities to analyze proper sizing/grading for different categories.
- Capable to analyze pattern and marker layout, adjusting if possible to maximize yield.
- Have strong fit correction experience and problem solving to pass testing.
- Have design/style/silhouette function comprehension.
- Have textile weaving/knitting and trim knowledge.
- Apply technical skills with Production-friendly construction and sewing ability.
- Maintain brand consistency in fit/make/quality.
- Work with Manager to periodically review established departmental standards and guidelines for fit and construction against the market.
- Monitor and report on departmental progress of the fit, construction, and follow-through of divisional top styles.
- Support PI-Product Integrity partners to apply Child Safety Regulations and Testing Standards.
- Have clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Attend departmental and team meetings, make sure team is represented in line review, line pass, and other meetings and provide recap.
- If applicable, have ability to manage and train Jr. Tech Designer.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years' experience in softlines technical design
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator Optitex and CAD Pattern Design software (or Browzwear)
- Advance understanding of technical skills in manufacturing and production process from development to pre-production
- Advance knowledge of patternmaking, draping, fit correction, grading. Knowledge of fabric/trim yield calculation and costing
- Advance knowledge of quality garment construction and production friendly construction. Knowledge of production cutting/sewing/machinery
- Effective communication and analytical skills
- Full understanding of time management to perform multitask
- Computer/technology skills including Microsoft Suite Including Excel and Adobe
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advance knowledge of patternmaking, draping, fit correction, grading. Knowledge of fabric/trim yield calculation and costing.
- Advance knowledge of quality garment construction and production friendly construction. Knowledge of production cutting/sewing/machinery
Required Education
- 2-4 year specialized degree required in related field or equivalent work experience.
