Special Projects Design Manager:
This candidate will lead the design management of various types of special design projects, including branch renovations, ATM installations, facilities maintenance and F&B projects driving execution and timelines. This is a highly specialized yet collaborative position with many stakeholders involved internally and externally. You will be joining a dynamic, highly skilled, and forward-thinking team that you will need to complement and challenge.
This position must have extensive experience in managing multiple projects that vary in size and timelines. They will be responsible for facilitating many strategic and operational specific projects that support Capital One’s mission and capital plans. They also must demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with multiple stakeholders involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, design, manage and execute project plans and drawings both in-house and in collaboration with external partners to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.
Drive cross-functional projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed; manage complex up and downstream project impacts.
Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation
Conduct regular meetings with the project team. Document progress and report to stakeholders on project status.
Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery.
Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
Be aware of possible risks of all decisions made during the design process, interact with internal risk management teams and form consensus around decisions prior to execution.
A great candidate will have:
Deep understanding and knowledge of construction means and methods, cost, and milestones.
Proficiency in construction drawing, documentation and oversight
Superior prioritization skills to juggle multiple projects with competing priorities with ease.
Strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations, including accessibility codes.
“Test and Learn” mindset, with full understanding of defining metrics of success.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Military experience
At least 5 years of in-house, client side architectural or design experience.
At least 5 years of experience working with AutoCAD & Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, and Illustrator.
At least 3 years of experience in vendor management or relationship management
At least 3 years of experience managing all phases of architectural design from concept through construction administration
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or industrial design.
At least 3 years of restaurant/F&B design experience experience, with general understanding of kitchen equipment coordination and health code requirements.
Experience working in architecture or design in the hospitality or retail industry
