Senior Designer
Description
Overview:
In this role you will be responsible for development of math design solutions to meet complex system and subsystem requirements. This activity is dependent upon a high degree of creativity and initiative in problem solving and leading multi-functional teams for issue resolution. You will perform as an expert in BOD Design and Engineering Best Practices, and highly skilled in GM CAD and Data Management System. You will exercise highly independent judgment and creative solution development with minimal direction from the Design Leader Technical. Proficient in CAD Tools and owns the development of Standard Model Methods in their component / subsystem area.
Responsibilities:
- Design, layout, model, and detail transmission components. Solve complex design issues, Mitigates technical design conflicts between components, subsystems, and the complete transmission design.
- Ensures adherence to design standards & processes, engineering requirements, and powertrain/vehicle packaging specifications.
- Understands & Executes layout, modeling, and drawing deliverables as guided by the Powertrain Drafting Standards using the CAD software environment (NX & Teamcenter)
- Completes approvals related to the review of both detail drawings and layouts. Reviews tolerance analysis results.
- Communicates status and recommendations to supervisor, Design Leader, and members of the Product Development Team (PDT) via regular meeting attendance.
- Develop virtual propulsion integration solutions to support program requirements.
- Work as a fully - qualified contributor who is dependent upon a high degree of knowledge and understanding of all aspects of propulsion systems.
- Strong knowledge in CAD and virtual related tools, software, and own the development of Standard Modeling Methods for virtual processes.
Additional Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or Technology/Design
- 8+ years' experience in engineering design (drawing, modeling, and layout construction)
- Knowledge of Propulsion & Vehicle System Architectures
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M 1994 Standards)
- In-depth knowledge of Siemens-PLM Software (NX, TeamCenter, and TcVis)
- Relevant auto, aerospace, or equipment manufacturing industry experience required with expertise in design projects related to: aluminum casting (sand or die), metal stamping, plastic injection molding, hydraulic controls, or packaging and layout construction
- Excellent written and oral communication skills related to C.A.D. processes
- In-depth knowledge of Tolerance Analysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tolerance_analysis)
