Description:

The Manager, Instructional Design reports to the Director, Operations Training for PLK US and Canada and is part of the Operations Team at Restaurant Brands International, Popeyes Brand. The Manager, Instructional Design will lead creating training material for the Brand & support operations initiatives from concept to launch. This role will design training content using design authoring tools, work with vendors to shape training deliverables, organize training communications, and assist in establishing training best practices to continuously improve.

Instructional Designer Responsibilities

This role will proactively lead and execute Learning & Development strategy and programs related to Popeyes Restaurant Operations. Focus on creating role-based curriculums and support material such as Job Aids, Build Cards, Standard Operating Procedures & Execution Guides that are needed to deliver a positive Guest Experience. In addition, create new programs to support upcoming initiatives and fill skill gaps in Operations.

To be successful in this role, you possess proven strengths and expertise in

  • Learning & Development: Experience in creating, designing, and launching effective training materials on a large-scale
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: (ex. Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects), Articulate Storyline 360, and video production /editing software (i.e., Camtasia, Premiere Pro, Final Cut or similar) required.
  • Creative and open to learning new design authoring tools ex Inkling, brand tools
  • Project Management: Ability to support projects and work with vendors on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communication: Effectively, timely and thoroughly communicate to internal and external teams regarding training needs and initiatives
  • Personality – fast-learner; organized; systematic; data and results driven – with a relentless focus on completion aligned to mutually agreed deliverables 

Responsibilities:

  • Apply learning & development theory/models, leverage, or benchmark best practices/trends, and maintain knowledge of cutting-edge approaches in order to deliver solutions that drive measurable, lasting impact.
  • Demonstrates abilities to prioritize and advance several projects each week ensuring progress of both short- and long-term goals
  • Support Training initiatives from concept to launch, including collecting data, working with vendors, creating materials and collecting feedback from stakeholders
  • Design training material for the right audience with a tailored approach for each role
  • Communicate training initiatives and projects to internal and external teams through weekly newsletters, webcasts & leadership meetings
  • Analytical focus that tracks, monitors, and improves KPIs related to Training & the Guest Experience
  • Work with cross functional departments to support Training initiatives and design content based on learning objectives to support restaurant Teams


Qualifications: 

  • Proven track record of Instructional Design with the ability to create training content with the desired results
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally focused in Business, Education, or relevant field
  • 3-5 years’ experience developing training materials / facilitation of Training content
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Apps InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Effects, Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Powtoon)
  • Develops and designs courses and curriculum, Restaurant / Quick Serve Restaurant experience preferred. As well as facilitation and creation of Instructor led content
  • Familiarity with adult learning methodologies (e.g. ADDIE/SAM) and theories (e.g. transformative/ experiential learning) 
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using PowerPoint 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support cross functional team
  • Ability to work cross-functionally between Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Franchisees
  • Passion for Learning & Development and openness to learn new design software
  • ATD Training Skills Certification or equivalent certification preferred
