Lead Product Designer

The new product innovation studio at Carrier Global, the Foundry launches connected platforms and products that solve societal issues. Our cross-disciplinary team includes product managers, technologists, design researchers, and product designers - all passionate about using technology to change the world for the better.

Designers at Carrier have a passion for built environments, an empathy for lived experiences, and an interest in connected solutions. We work on a range of complex digital innovation and strategic design projects critical to Carrier's continued business growth.

The Lead Product Designer defines and designs the experience across digital product initiatives related to smart buildings. They partner across product and engineering to create new products and features.

  • Partner with design leads to plan, prioritize, and execute design activities.
  • Design digital products, features, and capabilities.
  • Ensure interface design is both strategically sound and aesthetically beautiful.
  • Participate in user research in partnership with researchers.
  • Document detailed design specifications to guide the engineering process.
  • Partner directly with the scrum team to iterate the design approach as needed.
  • Use Carrier's digital design system to create stunning experiences with speed.
  • Contribute to the design system and advises others on best practices.
  • Promote coherence across our design system and identify areas for improvement.
  • Mentor and collaborate with other product designers on the team.

Key Skills

  • Collaborative team player with experience working on agile scrum teams.
  • Passion for pixel-perfect, systems-led visual design.
  • Expertise in the creation, application, and maintenance of design systems.
  • Ability to tactfully challenge the status quo through new thinking and inspiration.
  • Experience working on complex enterprise software development projects.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with an interdisciplinary structure.
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction)
  • +4-6 years of related work experience in-house or at a digital agency.
  • Expert in relevant design and prototyping tools - especially Figma.
  • Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
  • Deep understanding of how elements like color, typography, layout, etc. influence user experience.


Strong portfolio of relevant work required with application.
Location considerations

  • We are a remote-first team - with an option to work out of our Atlanta, GA office if desired.
  • Note: If remote, EST hours are typical for the team.
