Job Summary

The Design Quality Process Engineer will be based in Timisoara, reporting to the Director, Design, Process and Technology Engineering.

The role oversees and elevates the quality of our next-generation complex embedded systems. The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and possess at least an ASPICE Provisional Assessor certification (Competent Assessor preferred). This role requires a process-driven engineer with a strong foundation in Functional Safety (ISO 26262), Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and IATF 16949 automotive standards.
What a typical day looks like:

ASPICE & Process Assurance

  • Process Audits: Plan, schedule, and conduct internal process audits to ensure compliance with ASPICE (VDA Scope) standards.
  • Assessments: Support or lead ASPICE assessments depending on certification level (Provisional Assessor minimum, Competent Assessor highly preferred).
  • Engineering Coaching: Partner with systems, software, and hardware engineering teams to implement and track ASPICE-compliant workflows (SYS.1 through SWE.6).

Safety & Security Governance

  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262): Ensure engineering work products comply with relevant ASIL requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434): Monitor and verify the integration of cybersecurity goals and TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment) into the product development process.
  • Quality Gates: Conduct and approve Quality Gate reviews before releasing embedded software or system designs to internal or external customers.

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • IATF 16949 Alignment: Ensure product development processes strictly satisfy IATF 16949 requirements, focusing on APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Define, monitor, and report engineering quality KPIs to project management and OEM stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Drive root-cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5-Why) for any process deviations or software/system escapes.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Software, Computer, Automotive, or a closely related technical discipline).
  •  3+ years of experience in automotive quality assurance, systems engineering, or embedded software development.
  • ASPICE: Certified intacs™ ASPICE Provisional Assessor (minimum requirement); Competent Assessor certification is highly preferred.
  • Standards Awareness: Working knowledge and awareness of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity) principles.
  • Automotive Quality: Strong competency in IATF 16949 core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) and structured problem-solving (8D).
  • Technical Depth: Familiarity with complex embedded architectures, microcontrollers, and automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to act as a bridge between quality standards and engineering practicalities.
  • Clear Communication: Comfortable presenting audit findings and quality metrics to cross-functional teams and management.
