Hyster-Yale Materials Handling designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. We are looking for a dynamic, proactive individual to work within the Operator Compartment Design Team with a specialisation in forklift CAB enclosures. The successful candidate will enjoy collaborating with great people around the globe to make ideas come to life. Empowered and supported to innovate by challenging the status quo, working with diverse materials, like fabrics, plastics, and metals, and a multitude of different manufacturing processes to create value and customer experience.
Key Accountabilities will include:
- Producing design concepts to support requested features
- Self-management of project elements from concept to delivery
- Working with vendors to procure optimum solutions
- Developing project plans to support projects through to production
- Utilising off-site design resource to develop 3D models and create detailed drawings
- Working with NPI and Test Engineers to validate designs
- Supporting designs from concept through to Start of Production
- Liaising with line manager to ensure projects meet required targets
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment that may span multiple regions and time zones
- Provide supervision and technical support to others
- Occasional business travel to suppliers or another HYMH location.
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following Essential criteria:
- Hold an honours degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in an Engineering design environment
- Be experienced creating complex 3D models and 2D detail drawings
- Have previous practical experience working with industrial/mechanical equipment
The ideal candidate will also meet the following Desirable criteria:
- Master’s Degree in an Engineering related discipline
- Experience working with PLM and MRP systems
- Experience in Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacture approaches
- 5 years’ experience in a relevant Engineering design & development environment
- Advanced level 3D modelling skills [PTC Creo or Siemens]
