Title: Design Engineer (grade: 8~11)
Report to: Design/Analysis Engineering Service Group Manager – Nabari, in Japan
Basic Function:
The Design Engineer performs engineering work to efficiently provide CAD(Computed Aided Design) services to transfer knowledge throughout BorgWarner by utilizing and developing design expertise. This involves working with other engineers and managers on defining design requirements, using company standard procedures or developing the design software, tools or systems to determine requested information, as well as coordinating with application engineers, product engineers, analysis engineers, and mechanical production technology engineers to assist in completing requested design. For training and development purposes, assignments may include some work that is typical of a higher-level position.
Nature & Scope:
The incumbent will be expected to perform design engineering duties on many forms of mechanical products related to power train, drive train and mechanical product machinery etc. He(She) is expected to work in a research and development environment with design software, CAD to determine product design, configuration, and specifications communicating with application, product and analysis engineers.
Experience & Education:
Learned mechanical engineering and drawing
Experience of 3D-CAD operation like Creo, NX, and CATIA etc.
Experience working in product machining engineering field
Experience working with an engine, a power train, and drivetrain
Automotive industry background – powertrain and drivetrain
More than 3 years engineering
Better if experience of CAE for product design like FEA, CFD, and dynamic simulation etc.
Basic English skill of writing and communicating
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical presentation to internal related groups including global Morse system colleagues and customers.
Contribute product development as one of cross functional team members, arrange the support from relative groups such as application (AE), test, product of drivetrain, chain and VCT with even cross functional organization. Establish the plan for its goal.
Derive outputs like drawing, 3D-model, design reports including design analysis, and benchmark studies timely, and maintain/arrange the development plan properly. Working through PDP(Product Develop Plan) process appropriately
Work for resolution for engineering difficulties/issue in the development.
Understand company engineering rule and do design work.
Support for resolution of quality and/or manufacturing issues, internal and external
Skill Requirements:
Drawing and 3D-CAD operation fluently
Computer hardware skills (Remote login, Install, License setting, etc.)
Basic office software skill (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Positive to use basic analysis tool/software for product design (Matlab, FEA etc.)
Clear and precise oral/written communication
Work diligently on tasks and have communication with team and other departments.
Action oriented.
Good negotiator.
Communication with global engineers in English.
On time reporting, informing, consulting to manager.
