Stryker is hiring a Design Engineer, R&D (Hybrid) within our Upper Extremities Business Unit to join our team based at our facility in Columbia City, IN. You will be a part of a project where your work not only shapes the future of medical devices but also brings smiles and relief to healthcare professionals on the front lines. This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days per week in the office.

What You Will Do
As a Design Engineer for our R&D team, you will be part of an energetic, dynamic & highly motivated group with focus on developing ground-breaking new technology for the shoulder orthopedics market to serve the needs of our customers and make healthcare better.
Technical Responsibilities:

You will design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices.

You will assist with prototyping and bench testing.

You will support problem solving, root cause analysis, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.

You will conduct research and studies to support product design.

You will interpret customer needs and understands design inputs.
-
You will understand the product’s intended use and clinical procedures.

You will understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements.

You will create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.

You will learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
General Responsibilities:

You will work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success.

You will learn procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.

You will work on problems in limited scope; purposefully learn while gaining experience.
What You Need
Required
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or BioMedical
-
0+ years of work experience
Preferred
-
Internship experience in a highly regulated environment

Medical device industry experience
-
Basic knowledge of design and concept generation CAD (Solidworks) or CAE modeling tools
Travel Percentage: 20%
