Areas of Focus
Design Engineer focuses on product development efforts for battery related products from conceptualization through product launch phases.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full life cycle product development activities (design, prototype, manufacture, and launch)
- Assist in budget estimation, product cost estimates, and creation of schedules
- Work with global, cross-functional teams consisting of internal and/or external resources to accomplish tasks related to product development
- Develop and execute project plans in support of project development efforts including maintaining project documentation (design reviews, costing, etc.)
- Creative and proactive designer with the ability to think in an overall business growth manner; a detail oriented and logical problem solver
- Conduct or direct experiments methodically, analyze data, and interpret results
- Design products for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related industry standards (UL, BCI, IEEE, IEC, etc.)
- Integrate new or revised products into manufacturing environment, including coordination with and verification of production equipment and manufacturing engineering.
- Prepare engineering reports, presentations, and procedures
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering discipline (mechanical or chemical preferred)
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks); ANSYS a plus
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DFSS, and FEA techniques
- Must be capable of producing and checking complex engineering drawings
- Must possess ability to work with only general instruction and minimal supervision.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skill
- Battery and manufacturing experience preferred
- Travel up to 15% of the year
- International travel (Reynosa, Mexico)
