As a Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts - Hardgoods you work with a highly technical interdisciplinary group of forward-thinking scientists, engineers, builders and technical experts to deliver solutions for the mountain athlete everywhere. With support from your team, you drive and contribute to creation of advanced concepts in hardgoods product categories. You apply your curiosity and experience in solving complex problems to the intersection of outdoor apparel, equipment and cutting-edge innovation.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and candidates will be equired to work primarily onsite, with the option for hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were the Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts - Hardgoods now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Designing and validating technical product and components using engineering principles and tools
- Utilizing risk analysis tools to identify, evaluate and mitigate potential failure modes of product
- Designing, building and verifying standard and novel test equipment to evaluate performance of innovative solutions for outdoor product
- Designing, modifying and performing test methodology to evaluate product performance, safety and manufacturing risk
- Applying scientific methodology and statistical analysis to support objective, informed decisions
- Collaborating with manufacturing partners to ensure engineering and quality standards are satisfied
- Collaborating across Design functions to understand and drive diverse engineering needs
- Collaborating with external partners to validate and develop new technologies
- Disseminating new technology and research findings to internal stakeholders
- Documenting work for internal and external stakeholders
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Developing process and equipment standards for in-house evaluation to ensure we are putting the best product into the world
- Development of tools and processes for design decision making
- Evolving how we make product by identifying and implementing innovative manufacturing processes
- Scouting, ideating and evaluating future technology solutions
Are you our next Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts - Hardgoods?
- You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (such as Mechanical, Biomedical, or Engineering Physics)
- You have 5+years experience in technical product and or mechanical design
- You have experience designing technical consumer products that utilize various materials
- You have experience with design for manufacturing principles and have seen a consumer product from idea to mass manufacturing
- You have experience with theoretical and experimental testing and analysis
- You have exceptional communication skills and can work with cross-functional stakeholders
- You are proficient with CAD software
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
- You are energized by solving problems in the fields of applied science, advanced manufacturing and performance validation (lab & field). You love to brainstorm, build and tinker to achieve the best result.
- You are passionate about delivering disruptive and bold solutions that keep Arc’teryx at the forefront of the outdoor design industry.
