Responsibilities
  • · Own and champion the overall design vision for key projects, ensuring creativity, coherence, and strategic alignment across all deliverables.
  • · Lead early-stage design direction for prototypes and new project opportunities, defining the long-term creative and product roadmap.
  • · Drive studio-level design quality by conducting high-level reviews, critiques, and strategic conversations with leadership and clients.
  • · Establish and refine design processes, building scalable workflows, pipelines, and best practices for the entire design discipline.
  • · Guide project success through a user-first design approach, leveraging insights, playtests, and analytics to elevate player experience.
  • · Identify, assess, and communicate project risks, while proposing high-impact mitigation strategies.
  • · Collaborate closely with Studio Directors and cross-discipline leads to improve internal processes and contribute to studio growth and innovation.
  • · Lead mentorship and talent development, shaping the next generation of design leaders.
  • · Represent the studio in high-level stakeholder communication, aligning expectations across internal leadership, clients, and project teams.
  • · Participate in due diligence and evaluate new business opportunities from a strategic design perspective.
  • · Research emerging technologies and industry trends to position the studio at the forefront of game development.
Qualifications
  • · 10+ years of experience in relevant game genres and AAA-level production, with broad mastery across design disciplines.
  • · Proven track record in console development with at least 2 shipped titles in a senior or director-level role.
  • · Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and high-level decision-making capabilities.
  • · Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • · Experience collaborating with external partners, licensors, and IP holders.
  • · Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence at organizational scale.

About Our Team
Virtuos Chengdu was the second studio ever to be founded by the Virtuos Group back in 2008. As a full-stack game development studio, it’s capable of handling all aspects of the production pipeline, from the first brief to the final product, entirely in-house. To facilitate this, the studio is staffed by a multicultural team of experts ranging from art to engineering, constantly hard at work on the biggest titles on the horizon.
