POSITION SUMMARY: 


The Design Director is responsible for developing the Calvin Klein Mens apparel line with focus on Wovens under the direction of the EVP Global Design . They will lead the the Mens wovens Design team and ensure adherence to multiple project deadlines taking place at the same time. They must maintain the Calvin Klein brand identity when working with collaborators and representing the brand. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB: 

  • Work with EVP of Global Design and partnering closely with the Senior Director of Men’s Sweater and Cut & Sew to create a cohesive and brand appropriate execution of the 2 separate lifestyle brands, CK Jeans & CK Sportswear. This involves leading the C&S team, the Sweaters team and partnering with the larger Menswear design team such as the print team, color team, graphics team to research and develop concept, color, fabrics, print and graphics, and hardware designs.
  • Develop concepts based on merchandising planning.
  • Oversee the print team with a dotted line to ensure the print team is kept in the loop for all CK Jeans and CK Sportswear development and final print alignment.
  • Attend fittings and review prototypes or have team attend if not available once establishing the strengths in the team.
  • Convey all information to pertinent parties (Sourcing, Merchandising and Technical Design).  Also responsible for communicating all necessary information for the technical packages.
  • Prepares design presentations for review meetings.
  • Responsible for organizing relevant information (mill cards, files of Collections, etc.)
  • Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar. 
  • Support the team in organizing and planning out the workflow to support work/life balance.
  • Responsible for the management, selection and training of staff in conjunction with the EVP of Global Design.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:  

  • 10-12 years design experience with a specialization in Men’s Wovens and Prints.
  • Familiarity with fabric development with quality and price aligning both to create competitive products. Skilled at partnering with RM for novelty searches. 

        

Education: Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Fashion Design

Skills: 

  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.       
  • Possess high fashion aesthetics.   
  • Flexible to travel.

Internal Communication Excellence: Design Teams, Supply Chain Team, Raw Materials Team, Planning/Merchandising Team, and Sales Team

External:  Mills, factories, fabric and trim vendors


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

DIRECT:  Team of 3-4 people with dotted lines from Freelancers and seasonal Intern placements.

DECISION MAKING:  The Design Director holds a vital role in the development of the Calvin Klein women’s apparel line for each season, giving direction to the designers and presenting the line to senior management.

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:  Highly creative role, requiring strong awareness of current global trends in fashion as well as awareness of latest technology in fabric and trim research & development.

ENVIRONMENT:  Fast paced, deadline driven creative environment with a focus on teamwork across all Calvin Klein teams.

Pay Range:$162,200---$218,800

PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills. Additional Compensation: This role is bonus eligible. This role is equity eligible.
