Job DescriptionComponent Design Engineers are responsible for the design and development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include: the design of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction and checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and components, performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product requirements and logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or phases of design projects. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.
- Support Linux-based design environments, including batch computing systems (LSF‑like schedulers), EDA tool installations, environment configuration files, and NFS-based storage.
- Support EDA license management (FlexLM), including daemon health, usage validation, and availability monitoring.
- Support access control, permissions, and environment consistency across multiple projects and user groups.
- Develop automation using Python, shell scripting, and Perl to streamline environment setup, validation, monitoring, and cleanup.
- Build and maintain environment validation flows to verify compute, licenses, storage, tools, and services are fully operational before project usage.
- Implement CI‑like checks and scheduled health monitoring to proactively detect issues and reduce downtime.
- Optimize storage usage and lifecycle management, including automated cleanup and footprint reduction after project completion.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for EDA environment issues, including Linux, batch jobs, cron workflows, storage, Git, and access troubleshooting.
- Partner with internal customers and stakeholders to manage requests via Jira, communicate status, and align priorities.
- Contribute documentation, best practices, and operational runbooks to improve team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
Required
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong experience administering Linux environments supporting engineering or EDA workflows.
- Hands-on experience with batch computing systems, job scheduling, and automation.
- Experience managing EDA tools and licenses (e.g., FlexLM). Proficiency in Python, shell scripting (bash/tcsh), and/or Perl for automation and infrastructure tooling.
- Experience supporting NFS storage, environment files, and project-based design setups.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-layer issues and drive them to resolution.
Preferred
- Prior experience in Design Automation, CAD, or semiconductor design environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices applied to engineering infrastructure (validation pipelines, monitoring, automation at scale).
- Experience improving environment reliability, validation coverage, and operational metrics.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with design engineers and technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrate interest and aptitude in expanding into additional Design Automation domains, such as analog extraction and related frontend/physical‑aware flows, through hands‑on learning, shadowing, and collaboration with domain experts.
The compensation range for this role is $105,440 - $164,800. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
