The Design and Production Engineer I plays a key role in bridging design and production—developing CAD models, enhancing manufacturing processes, and supporting ISO 9001 quality systems. Collaborating across operations, maintenance, and quality, this position helps drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

MAIN FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Engineering (40%)

  • Develop and update 2D/3D CAD models and technical drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
  • Maintain BOMs, part numbers, and technical documentation.
  • Support engineering change orders, prototyping, and part qualification.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and quality teams on manufacturability and functionality.

Production Engineering (45%)

  • Troubleshoot tooling, layout, and process issues on the production line.
  • Conduct time studies, process flow analysis, and layout updates.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions and ERP routings.
  • Drive cost-reduction and lean initiatives; track key metrics (downtime, scrap, yield).

ISO 9001 Quality System (15%)

  • Coordinate and maintain ISO 9001 documentation and audits.
  • Manage document control, corrective actions, and continuous improvement tracking.
  • Facilitate internal audits, external audit readiness, and ISO-related training.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering 
  • Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships acceptable)
  • Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred); exposure to lean manufacturing, ISO 9001, or quality systems; strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills; Familiarity with ERP systems, project tracking tools, and BOM/routing management; Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of agricultural or heavy industrial manufacturing a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a technical, customer-centric, and cross-functional setting
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments, including sitting, standing, walking, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds, using hands for tools or computers, wearing PPE, and performing visual inspections safely.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, ISO 9001, or quality systems
