JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
The Deposit Operations Support Associate 1 provides entry-level support across various deposit operations functions, including account maintenance, item processing, exception handling, and document validation. The associate ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, facilitates accurate transaction processing, and contributes to the operational efficiency of the department while working closely with senior team members to improve service quality and internal processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deposit Account Maintenance & Documentation
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of customer deposit account records in core systems, including basic changes to account ownership and address updates.
- Review deposit-related documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in capturing and maintaining customer signatures and ensure proper indexing within the Bank’s imaging systems.
Exception Item Processing & Adjustments
- Support the research and resolution of exception items, such as non-posted items or returned items.
- Assist with the submission of adjustment requests to the Federal Reserve and other financial institutions under the guidance of senior associates.
- Assist in the reconciliation and balancing of exception files and accounts.
CD/IRA Servicing
- Support the processing of CD/IRA transactions such as account updates and simple distributions or rollovers.
- Assist with gathering documentation and ensuring compliance with IRS rules for CD/IRA accounts.
Unclaimed Property & Escheatment
- Assist in tracking and identifying unclaimed property in customer accounts.
- Support the preparation of escheatment reports and remittances in accordance with state laws.
Domestic Collections & Mail Banking
- Help manage incoming and outgoing collection items, including checks and other negotiable instruments.
- Assist with mail-based transactions, such as account closures and processing "bank by mail" deposits.
Compliance & Reporting
- Assist in maintaining documentation and records to ensure compliance with audit, SOX404, and regulatory requirements.
- Help track and report on operational metrics for various functions, including maintenance, exception processing, and collections.
Other
- Assist in department projects and cross-training activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support operational goals.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0-1 year of experience in deposit operations or a related field.
- Basic understanding of banking products and services.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes and guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
