The Deposit Operations Specialist is essential to the accurate and efficient processing of all deposit-related transactions within the bank. This role supports the daily operations of the bank’s deposit services, overseeing account maintenance, transaction processing, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborating with various departments, the Deposit Operations Specialist helps deliver seamless service to customers and plays a key part in maintaining the bank’s overall operational excellence.

QualificationsResponsibilities
  • Transaction Processing: Accurately process all types of deposit transactions, including but not limited to check deposits, ACH transactions, wire transfers, exception items and account adjustments.

  • Account Maintenance: Manage account setup, maintenance, and closure activities, ensuring all account information is up-to-date and compliant with bank policies and regulations.

  • Reconciliations: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of deposit-related accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Compliance: Ensure all duties performed by deposit operations adhere to federal and state regulations, as well as internal bank policies. Assist with audits and regulatory examinations as needed.

  • Customer Support: Provide support to branch staff and customers by addressing inquiries related to deposit accounts, transactions, and policies. Resolve issues promptly and professionally.

  • Fraud Prevention: Monitor deposit transactions for suspicious activity, working with the fraud prevention team to mitigate risks and protect customer accounts.

  • Overdraft Monitoring: review overdrawn accounts, prepare charge off packets, report accounts for collection and process payments.

  • IRA Management: Manage IRA platform, reporting, customer support, and internal support.

  • Business Services Support: Implementation and support of Cash Management, Business Bill Pay, Remote Deposit, and any new products offered in this space.

  • Backup duties as assigned

Minimum Years of Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in banking, financial services, or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of banking products and services, such as savings accounts, checking accounts, CDs, IRA’s, and electronic funds transfers.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to address operational issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and resolve customer-related concerns effectively.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with internal teams and interact with customers when necessary.

  • Strong ability to accurately process transactions and maintain data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in deposit operations, business/treasury services, and electronic banking strongly preferred

  • Experience in audit, compliance, and fraud prevention

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to deposit operations (e.g., BSA/AML compliance, FDIC regulations). 

Computer/Software Experience Requirements
  • Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Familiarity with banking systems and software used for transaction processing, account management, and compliance.
