About the Position

Dexis Professional Services (DPS) is hiring for an experienced Department of Defense (DOD) Business Development Director to identify, qualify, and lead capture and closure of U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) business opportunities. They are expected to continue to build Dexis’ reputation and grow our presence within the defense market. They will participate in the identification and development of new opportunities, drive the win strategy for strategic captures, and are accountable for the following key performance indicators (KPIs); submission targets and award targets. This position reports directly to the President of DPS.

Responsibilities

Opportunities Management

  • Drive the company’s growth and brand recognition in the Department of Defense by providing leadership, proactively seeking new opportunities, and capitalizing on existing professional networks.
  • Lead pre-positioning and capture efforts, including technical research, job descriptions and recruitment, partnership development, pre-drafting of content, and management of consultants.
  • Develop a method to get to know the customer on relevant opportunities.
  • Keep opportunities warm.
  • For specific opportunities, lead strategy sessions to define win themes, technical approach, teaming, value propositions, and cost differentiators.
  • Support Key Personnel recruiting on bids by leveraging personal networks, identifying leads, and developing effective recruitment strategies.
  • Act as technical lead for proposals.
  • Act as an important resource to the technical writer and cost preparer.

 

General Management

  • Identify and maintain a pipeline of opportunities in line with division targets.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the OSD community and at Dexis.
  • Lead the company’s strategic vision by assessing customer’s direction, trends and strategic opportunities in the 3–5-year time horizon providing results to strategic captures and campaigns, and to internal leaders.
  • Cultivate and manage an active network of customer and partner relationships with mid and senior level leaders across the OSD customer, associated subaccounts (DoD Fourth Estate), business partners, and client representatives.
  • Develop and share BD resources, tip sheets, and “best of” language.
  • Provide external thought leadership and represent Dexis in relevant industry associations and forums, technical working groups, events, internal learning exchanges, and conferences.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, with at least twelve (12) years of related experience. 
  • Expert understanding of DOD customers, doctrine, concepts, and requirements.
  • Demonstrated access to key DOD government customers and industry partners
  • Demonstrated experience with federal government budget, investments and acquisition processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills able to successfully capture concepts in clear, concise, and direct language.
  • Proven track record of successful account management at a variety of acquisition sizes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing elements of a proposal (cost, technical, and recruiting) and understanding how they impact one another.
  • Proven leadership skills to delegate and coach proposal team members.
  • Ability to make informed, timely decisions and communicate to proposal team members.
  • Self-starter and ability to manage time independently without direct supervision.
  • Current DoD security clearance at a minimum of a SECRET level.
  • Prior experience working in a DOD customer agency.

Below is the pay range aligned with this position. When developing a range, Dexis evaluates compensation holistically, triangulating between external market research, our budget for the position, and internal equity to arrive at a figure that is fair and competitive. Offers within this range will be based on an individual candidate's qualification, relevant education and experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.

Dexis pay range for this role:

$156,000$192,000 USD
