The Role

Job Description:

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

  • Execute mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and correct errors made by internal and external personnel.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of operational management accounts.
  • Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, liabilities, and assets.
  • Prepare special financial reports, when requested by senior managers, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Review various revenue software reports for accurate billing rates, company and center allocation and math totals.
  • Correspond with vendors, employees, and respond to inquiries for all companies/clients.
  • Create and modify documents such as invoices, reports, memos, correspondence, emails, and financial statements using Workday, word processing, spreadsheet, and/or other presentation software.
  • Prepare and maintain deposit records; deposit all incoming checks to the bank.
  • File and retrieve organizational documents, records and reports.
  • Code appropriately for each client and prepare billings for all clients.
  • Clear Prepaid accounts including obtaining backup support, Journal Entries and Check request reimbursement.
  • Reclass Cash Deposits for any errors or changes affecting Cash Flow.
  • May conduct research, compile data and prepare papers for consideration and presentation to the Director of Accounting.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of vendors, clients, staff and company information.
  • Support staff in assigned project-based work.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (particularly, intermediate level Excel and Word) and Google Suite.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management and general administration.
  • Ability to operate standard and repair office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, telephone systems, calculators, copiers and facsimile machines.
  • Knowledge of Workday, Navision, Great Plains, or other account software preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Accounting or education industry background.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience at a public accounting firm preferred.
