Position SummaryThe HR Specialist (Workforce Planning) leads workforce planning, talent management, and HR audit initiatives supporting the Department of Education’s Office of Human Resources. This role helps align workforce strategies with organizational goals to ensure future workforce readiness and long-term success.
What You’ll Do- Conduct HR audits and workforce readiness assessments
- Develop and maintain Workforce Plans and action strategies
- Perform workforce gap analyses and organizational assessments
- Support succession planning, retention, and executive talent management
- Track workforce initiatives, timelines, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address staffing and skills gaps
- Analyze workforce data and support strategic reporting
- Maintain HR SOPs and workforce planning documentation
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of workforce planning experience
- Experience conducting HR audits, workforce assessments, and gap analyses
- Knowledge of federal HR policies and workforce planning frameworks
- Experience developing workforce plans and action plans
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Skills Required
- US Citizen
- BS or BA degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience in workforce planning
- Demonstrated experience conducting HR audits, gap analyses, and workforce assessments
- Knowledge of federal HR policies, regulations, and workforce planning frameworks
- Experience developing workforce plans and action plans
