Job Summary
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM-11:30 pm (Rotating Holidays)Summary:
The Decontamination Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment by collecting biohazard waste, replacing sharps containers, picking up soiled linen, and cleaning essential patient care equipment such as infusion pumps, commodes, seizure pads, and stretchers. The technician also assists with linen distribution as needed. This role does not involve direct patient care but supports clinical operations by ensuring hygienic and well-stocked conditions across hospital departments.
Essential Functions:
Collects biohazard waste and replaces sharps containers hospital-wide.
Picks up and transports soiled linen; distributes clean linen as needed.
Cleans and sanitizes patient care equipment, including:
Infusion pumps
Commodes
Seizure pads
Stretchers
Completes quarterly cleaning of assigned equipment.
Receives assignments from the coordinator or dispatch, including:
Biohazard pickup
Lab and supply transport
Linen delivery
Patient transport
Morgue transport (as applicable)
Completes all assignments promptly and notifies dispatch upon task completion.
Attends monthly departmental meetings and complies with all regulatory and safety procedures.
