ERG is seeking an entry-level engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) clients. The candidate will work on-site at a federal facility site in Indian Head, Maryland. The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of engineering, facilities, planning, and explosive safety professionals that focus on quality work and fostering collaborative, long-term relationships. ERG has provided engineering, management, and planning services to this federal client for nearly 20 years.
This position will be four days per week at the federal site in Indian Head, MD and one day per week in an ERG office. The position will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG’s Chantilly and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. Alternative work schedules may be considered. ERG is willing to provide assistance with relocation expenses.
Job Description:
- Evaluating facility demolition and decontamination and equipment projects for potential environmental and safety impacts
- Formulating risk mitigation strategies
- Preparing standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Interacting with technical clients to provide process engineering and explosive safety support
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical, civil, or environmental engineering or equivalent military training (minimum GPA of 3.0)
- 0 to 3 years of experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense (DOD) Secret clearance
- Ideal candidates will have direct experience with explosives safety planning, storage, handling, transportation, or disposal

The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience.
