About the Role & Program
The Disney Decision Science + Integration (DDSI) organization supports clients across The Walt Disney Company including the Disney Experiences segment which includes Parks and Resorts both domestic and international, Consumer Products, and Disney Signature Experiences, as well as the Disney Entertainment segment which includes Studios Content (Disney Theatrical Group), General Entertainment Content, and ESPN and Sports Content.
DDSI leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, statistical, and econometric modeling to explore opportunities, shape business decisions, and drive business value.
The timeline of this internship is from January through June 2025.
What You Will Do
The Data Engineering consulting team uses technology, data analysis, and data visualization to build data pipelines that support analytic business processes and decisions. Candidates should have a natural curiosity about data, take a proactive role in problem-solving how to get data into the right hands, be able to prioritize, and be teammates in a collaborative environment.
You will support park projects that build a strong return on company investments! As an intern, you will help this process by:
- Assisting in the development of data transformation processes using Snowflake and Python
- Generating data validation processes, while maintaining results
- Collaborating with other project team members to include data processes in the overall pipeline
- Investigating possible causes of inaccurate data aggregation and transformation
- Maintaining technical system documentation
- Preparing presentations for project team members
- Implementing visualization tools, developing dashboards, and reporting
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Confirmed proficiency with SQL and Python to perform data transformation
- Strategic problem-solving & analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding of Tableau
- Experience collecting & analyzing data and reporting on the results
- Excellent oral/written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to adapt to an evolving business environment and balance multiple opposing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Validated experience with Snowflake
- Confirmed experience with Python, using packages primarily focused on data acquisition and transformation
- Confirmed experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools
- Knowledge of code repository tools, such as GitLab or GitHub
- Knowledge of process automation tools, such as Apache Airflow
Education
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate level student or graduated within six (6) months of application submission, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the below requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
- Fully available from Monday-Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours per week
