We are looking for a DDI Engineer to join a team responsible for building, managing and maintaining the Infoblox platform, along with other network management systems on which our mission-critical services depend. Our platform and our team
Our platform uses a mix of commercial and Open Source off-the-shelf software to deliver a DDI infrastructure platform, integrating with multiple platforms and services across Verisign. We follow a mostly Kanban workflow, adhere to GitOps principles as much as possible and value fast iteration, secure-by-default solutions and customer-oriented mindset.
Job responsibilities:
- Build, operate, and maintain our Infoblox platform supporting our DDI initiative at Verisign
- Implement and support monitoring pipelines for DDI platform health to support platform observability and availability
- Automate DDI workflows for provisioning, cleanup and compliance enforcement
- Troubleshoot complex DNS/DHCP/IPAM incidents, participate in root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes
- Create and maintain documentation and runbooks for our first-line support teams
- Ensure compliance with vulnerability management standards and information security standards
- Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation for tier 3 support
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Written and verbal communication skills – ability to clearly and succinctly describe complex issues
- Experience deploying and operating a DDI platform from industry leading vendors in a production environment
- Experience integrating multiple services with a DDI platform in a enterprise architecture
- Strong understanding of DNS protocols, DHCP lease management and IPAM (IPv4 and IPv6) hierarchy
- Understanding of CMDB and ITIL concepts
- Understanding of network protocols and security
- Ability to write scripts in either Python or Go that can interact with multiple platforms in an enterprise architecture
Desired Skills, Experience, and Attributes:
An ideal candidate will have a blend of technical skills, a desire to work as part of a team to learn and grow themselves and those around them, and will have some of the following skills:
- Experience running an Infoblox platform in a production environment and integrating both custom and built-in services within an enterprise architecture
- Experience maintaining highly available services in both an on-prem and cloud-based production environment.
- ServiceNow integration experience (API, workflows etc)
- Understanding and able to use with development tools such as Github, Jira
- Understanding of BGP and anycast
- Exposure to Netbox
- Exposure to Kubernetes
- Familiarity with one more public and/or private cloud computing platforms
- Familiarity with Network Discovery
- Familiarity with ISC BIND and DHCP/kea
- Know how to create and manage automation pipelines with tools such as JenkinsKnow how to manage capacity of public routable address space
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
The pay range is $108,900 - $147,300.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
