Target Pay: $24.00 hourly

Job Summary

At Northeast Arc, our mission is to ensure that individuals with disabilities are able to live, work, engage in civic life, and play in the community. As a Day Support Specialist, you will play a direct and meaningful role in that mission. Northeast Arc's Day Habilitation (Day Hab) programs focus on the acquisition, retention, and improvement of self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills. Our individualized Day Hab plans are tailored to each participant's personal goals and dreams. We weave clinical supports and consultations into daily activities through our team of support staff, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.

In this role, you will provide hands-on direct care and skills training to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a structured, person-centered Day Habilitation setting. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, you will promote the highest level of independence and satisfaction in participants' daily activities, helping them build meaningful connections, grow their abilities, and thrive in their communities. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and skills training for assigned participants in a Day Habilitation setting to promote the highest level of independence and satisfaction in their daily activities
  • Support participants in engaging with interest-based and therapeutic activities aligned with their individualized Day Habilitation plans
  • Provides assistance to individuals with all aspects of personal care including: toileting, mealtime prep and support. Assists with hoyer lifts, showering and dressing.
  • Presents information, in a professional manner, regarding any individual in meetings, phone contact, daily written documentation and emails.Understand the clinical and social needs of individuals receiving services.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with intellectually and/or developmentally disabled adults or in a health care setting
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive, energetic, and professional demeanor; compassionate, creative, and able to work well with participants with diverse needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate and write in English
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for 1 hour uninterrupted, bend, and push wheelchairs
  • Must successfully complete and pass all required background checks as a condition of employment
